7th move or where I have been during the last 3 months?

ChangesAs you might have noticed, I have not been updating Happy Abroad website for a while. Why? Since October 2012 I was undergoing dramatical life changes. I have changed everything – house, town where I live, job, private life…. To be honest, that was hard. Much harder than I could except it would be. And this, taking into account that I was mentally well prepared and in theory knew what I had to do. However in practice, there so many issues were going on around, that I did not have neither time nor energy to implement the theory.

As a creator of Happy Abroad project, I would not recommend anyone to undergo such “extreme” life change. It has its own advantages, but you have to be super prepared, super strong and have enough resources, especially time and energy, to undergo this. I am not saying that I had all of that, I wish I did, however I put myself into this situation and I had no other choice than to go though it.

And here I am. 7th move in my life, or may be 9th, depending on how you count. It’s about a town every 3-4 years on average. And I better not start counting how many houses/apartments I have changed…

Riga/Gauja → Kassel/Trier → St Albans/London → Bath → Siena → Rome → Ispra → ?

Now, looking back at my life’s extreme makeover, I made some conclusions:

  • It is better to undergo changes step by step – in this way you have some time to reflect, see where and what the new change will bring you, and also it gives you time to adapt.
  • When you change everything in your life, do not expect your life to flow its normal way, you will not have your usual routine. What is there?
  • In theory it should be: the more you move, the easier it becomes. Not always. The more you move, the more you know what to expect, however that’s also scary. For me the first three moves were the easiest ones, as I was open for a change, looking forward new experiences and did not really know what will be there, on the other end. And now, with each next move I am well aware of what to expect. New place, new people, there will be times, when I will feel lonely, I will have to adapt to the new environment…, but of course each change enriches life and brings new interesting experiences 🙂

When I found out that I will have to move place yet again, I thought to start a new season of “Happy Abroad” course together with my move – so that we could undergo the changes and become Happy Abroad together. However in the end I have chosen to be the “test rabbit” and to try the techniques, which are offered in the course on the extreme, “hardest” level, by myself first (I have tried them all before, however in much milder conditions). And soon I will share with you the results! 🙂

To be continued…
